why is it people come in here n' tell a person how whack they are???? I mean why not do what they are supposed to do? help the person find there mistakes so they can fix them or over come them depending on the situation I guess........

I feel ya'. The MODs should set a rule where if you're caught talkin' shit to the kids who come in here to ask for advice... you get banned. One warning which they send you a private message giving you your warning and then if you do it again you get banned. That seems about right.

I come in here to help these kids out and while I'm tryin' to give 'em advice someone will post afterwards tellin' the same kid to just give up rather than listen and learn.

My biggest piece of advice would be for anyone who comes in here looking for answers to go freestyle at open mics and battle everyone they meet who raps and build up their skill through that. If they can't do this or they wanna look for answers in both than do that. Infact, I'd like to see some people check up in here and report their progress on both netceein' and real life battles.

Thing is tho, some people post utter trash.

Never post your first lyrics. They will be garbage, I speak from experience. My first lyrics (back when I was 10, all of.... 12 years ago lol) and my first beats at 14 were garbage. Wait until you've written for yourself for about 2 years before posting anything. More than likely you'll have a decent rhyme because you've got 2 years experience under your belt, and you know how to convey ideas much better.

That's the best advice I can give. When people post their first rhymes, what kind of critique am i supposed to give? "Fix everything". I can't tell him or her how to fix what they wrote when they don't even have their own style. I can't tell them what to fix if they've never gone about fixing their own rhymes in the first place.

People come to the Dojo thinking that they'll be good in 2 months (or less) because of all the feedback they'll be getting. TIME is the best feedback of all, trust me. Anybody who's been writing for a while knows, that when they go back and peep their earlier shit, it's fucking awful, and they can't believe they wrote it. Why post these rhymes on the net for everyone to see and say it's whack? It makes no sense.

Yeah, I see what you're sayin' but when they receive good advise it gives them something specific to work on. Otherwise they may never understand what they're doing wrong or where to start on correcting themselves. I like to see people put on the right track. I know personally I had signed musicians teach me little shit like exactly how and why we use barz and shit like that. Alot of it was natural but having people there to mentor me on a musical level greatly increased my abilities. It's like being a opera trained singer. You don't sing opera but you're taught so far beyond use that the rest comes with ease. That's how I was trained to be an emcee. Since I had a great opprotunity I like to pass on the wealth of knowledge and assist others.

hehe, these were not my first lyrics. I acually write quite a bit but like tony said how am I going to improve if I don't know I'm doing wrong. People telling me I'm doing wrong by saying "your wack" or "you suck" is NOT going to fix the problem, it would prolly drive some one to quit because they think they arent going to make it any were.....
