Memorization before u spit..

Yo.. Is it better.. to read the paper or memorize your shit.. before you spit it over the mic. . .. I've been pondering this question all day..

What I used to do was burn a rough mix with shitty vox onto a cd and listen to it 24/7, just to remember the words.

Now I have a better memory so I bare;y even have to look at the page any more.

better to memorize, its easier to spit it and it just comes out better

It really doesn't make much of a difference. Look at Tupac, he used to write his shit and spit it directly after from the paper. It's cool when you got the time...but if you ever blow, you gonna have to be able to write and spit on the spot sometimes. When I do a track with my group, I usually write it on that day, and spit it when it's fresh and I'm in the same mindstate. I noticed when I wrote it a day or 2 before, it seemed a little watered down.

I guess its whatever works best for you, but i always find if i don't memorize the lyrics my flow can go off during the verse and it doesn't sound as good.
