You can freeze things in glass jars. Problem is glass breaks when it hits the floor (which you know), and when taken out of the freezer glass has a layer of frost which turns wet, making it hard to hold on to.
So hold on to your frozen glass containers like you do my heart ... with care.

for some reason I was convinced that glass would crack (maybe even explode?) with extreme changes of temperature.
your heart is safe with me hun

I always use the Glad or Ziplock plastic containers, especially when making soups/stews/sauces and chili. I put masking tape on the lid and write what's in it, and they are all single servings ready to go.
Any sealable container would work, and glass is fine (just don't drop it, lol).
I should add that the plastic containers are easier to stack in the freezer, not to mention throw in the microwave for ease of cooking.

If you use glass, don't fill to the top and def let it cool completely before freezing.
The downside is having to let it thaw for hours or overnight before being able to use it.

Nice! Reduce the heat or baking time when making cakes and brownies!

Not filling to the brim is a good tip, as glass doesn't have any give when the food expands.
But yet again you've exposed yourself as a fraud and a stranger to the kitchen by not knowing that you can simply put the glass container in a bowl of warm water to make the contents thaw relatively quicky.
You know what? RM deserves better than this. I'm running against you for The Meat 'n Place thread mod.

I'd like to officially announce my candidacy.
The people of RM have to be saved. The people at Shake n Bake have given so much to myself and to the world, so I owe it to them most of all.

Please do. I never asked to be mod. More specifically, I asked NOT to be. I'm simply in favor of the sub forum and am trying to help make it happen.
P.S. Yes, of course you can put the jar in warm water to speed the thawing process along. I was simply comparing the convenience of plastic compared to glass.
