Salute to the Colors and Flag Bearers of Iwo Jima


Gloriously weaving and waving, waving in the zephyrs atop
The mountain, we kept fighting, fighting without stop
Here, we stand tall and holy upon our ground, we’re America’s finest crop
Here, the hordes of enemies we stall and buckle whilst we set up shop
To rout the evil that perforates and enshrouds this deadly little island
This deadly little island that is our stepping stone to the heart of Japan
So many have died on the once enchanting shores fighting the “rising sun” armbands
And the sapphire seas and golden shores are now stained with soldiers’ lifeblood
And every ebb of the tide leaves more gore to congeal in the mud
But there you are, cracking like a Cat O’ Nine Tails in the wind
When you get tattered from being bullet battered, your tears we will mend
Skirmishes and battles, campaigns and wars, all fought and won for you
By the true soldiers and officers who serve the mighty red, white, and blue
