a) I'll let you take a guess who is working on their PhD in what area. by the way it's "lingo," limbo is that party game you play. It's also a term for "hypothetical afterlife condition of those who die in original sin without being assigned to the Hell of the damned."
b) of course I've vicariously felt embarrassed for people, happens all the time. It's you projecting yourself onto others, imagining yourself in their shoes. However if you're comfortable with yourself, know who you are, and can tolerate anxiety (anxiety of what you perceive to be as someone humiliating themself in your point) it doesn't matter. And more importantly, it's all SUBJECTIVE. It's how you interpret your subjective experience. Thus different people having different reactions, the subjective viewers opinions, emotions and responses. In the words of the Dude "That's just like...your opinion...man."
