Steve, regarding your joint problems, I was referring to the random warm weather we've been having. I bet I can tell you you're problem. Too much heavy lifting wears down the cartiledge, especially in the knees. What with squatting, deadlifts, cleans, etc. To remedy your problem, you need to incorporate light workouts, maybe even bodyweight exercises. Lightweight exercise stimulates the production of cartiledge.

That's why I like to get in a concentration workout for a given body part maybe every 5th or 6th time. So that's about once a month for each body part. I know it sucks to not really be able to lift. But on the plus side, you get to work on focus which I feel is pretty key too. Focusing on contraction as well as things like plyometrics are great. You get to work on power as well as improving contraction strength, intensity and definition. It's also a welcome break from that intense soreness.

I'm assuming that's what your problem is anyways, so I could be way off.
