Using the final AP & Coaches Polls rankings:
Big 10 played: #1LSU(L), #2/3 USC(L), #10/11Boston College(L), #12 Tennessee(L), #13/16 Florida(W), OK St.(L), Tex A&M(W), Central Michigan(W)
SEC played: #4/5OSU (W), #4/5Mizzou(L), #17/19Hawaii (W), #18/19Michigan(L), #21/22 Clemson(W), #21/24 Wisconsin(W), Florida St(W), Colorado(W), UCF(W)
So the SEC did play 1 more ranked team in the bowl games, but only 2 in the top 15, while the Big 10 played 5 in the top 15.
I don't know about the regular season, but since the pollsters love to rank any SEC team with a winning record, I think out of conference games against ranked teams would be a better measure of schedule strength, and we know the SEC plays the most 1AA schools every year.
