A few questions need to be asked:

1. Is there a male gymnastics team at that school?
2. Is there a female football or wrestling team at that school?
3. Is he being denied participation in gymnastics or "women's" gymnastics? There is a difference. Women don't play on the men's basketball team and vice-versa.

If there is no males gymnastics, then yes it is discrimination and should not be tolerated. If there is a male's gymnastics team then he has no case and should have no case.

If there is a female football team at that school then no, women should not be playing football with the men. If there isn't, then they should be allowed to play if they qualify.

I didread all of the article and these questions were not answered because that is how journalists function. They leave out logic in order to create a story out of something that simply holds no weight. The closest they came to answering the question was quoting the lawyer who said: "If women can go on our football team and they can wrestle in tournaments, why in the world if there's no access for a male to participate in gymnastics should they not be on the girls' team?"

That doesn't say why he wasn't given access into male gymnastics. For all we know (as the reader) they may very well have a male gymnastics team and he simply didn't make the cut, so he tried out for the females team . . . which is ultimately much different than a female being capable of stepping up and competing with males in predominantly male sports.

However, if his school (as I said above) didn't offer gymnastics for males, then by all means . . . he has a case. What you are neglecting to mention though is that this just went to case. Women had to take cases like this to court several times before the rules were changed so of course it will work the same both ways. To expect the WIAA to alter their rules without being forced to, is a little naive. The lawyer doesn't care about this kid's rights. The lawyer wants to get paid. His argument is built around the check that he will receive if he wins.

Don't feed into the nonsense.
Men and Women are equals in spirit.
In ability they are not (aside from the rare exceptions). If you put Leila Ali (who is undefeated) against Roy Jones Jr. then of course she'll get laid out. If you put the best female pro-basketball player against a fairly good male college basketball player and they are the same height and same weight, she will lose in a one on one match up. Not all feminists are foolish enough to say that women can do anything men can do. Most of them are simply saying that "If" the woman can, then there is no reason she shouldn't be allowed to simply because she is a woman.

Men are not created equally (in a worldly sense).
Women are not created equally (in a worldly sense).
Men and women definately are not created equally (in some aspects of life).

Equality in the worldly sense is idiotic.
Equality in the spiritual sense is valid.
