As for the whole recognition aspect, if you got the money it's easy to get big-named artists on tunes. It just costs. I was talking to Reveal from Poisonous Poets,
poisonouspoets@hotmail.com, and you can get either of them for a sum. Being in London you should take advantage, man, there's bare events 'n' stuff you could be competing for. Have you checked out Cargo? Get there on the 24th, I'm down in Leyton over that time to check Klashnekoff out so get down there. There's an open mic 'n' all ... I forget the full list but from what I remember it's Klash, Lady Sovereign, Kano, Akala 'n' Lowkey.
